Are you ready to tantalize your taste buds with scrumptious, plant-based cuisine that's not just for vegans and vegetarians? Whether you're in the mood for a hearty meal or a light snack, Green Fields products offer something to satisfy every craving. Our brand speaks to a broad audience of consumers without alienating those who aren't strictly vegan or vegetarian. Our products offer richness and versatility suitable for all dietary preferences - we don’t just cater to vegans and vegetarians but also flexitarians and even regular meat eaters who are open to trying something new and nutritious.

And the best part?

Now you don’t have to book a table at a restaurant to enjoy them. Our retail range of easy-to-prepare items, now available at Wellness Warehouse, can be cooked in half the time of their meat counterparts, making it a breeze to whip up delicious meals in just minutes! Even on ‘braai day,’ our patties and sausages will have even the most ardent meat-eaters taking a second bite!

Our Chef

From South African Cuisine Icon to Vegan Pioneer

Michael’s passion for South African cuisine and wine has made him a true icon in the industry, earning him numerous awards such as the Lannice Snyman Lifetime Achievement Award and ranking on the prestigious Eat Out Awards Top 10 List an impressive nine times. What's even more impressive is that Michael never went to culinary school. In fact, he spent a decade as a General Manager for the City Lodge Group before purchasing his first restaurant, Broughton's, which eventually landed him his first two Eat Out Top 10 awards. His culinary journey was largely inspired by British chef Nico Ladenis, whom Michael cites as his mentor and biggest influence.

After relocating to Cape Town in 2004, Michael took the reins at Terroir restaurant, situated on the stunning Kleine Zalze wine farm in Stellenbosch. His food quickly became known as some of the finest in the country, earning him seven more Eat Out Top 10 awards. He even authored a cookbook, "Terroir - The Cookbook," showcasing his techniques and authentic recipes.

Development began in 2020 during the pandemic, when Michael and supplier-turned-friend, Glenn Myers, saw an opportunity to cater to the growing vegan market. It took another 2 years to develop and Green Fields was eventually launched in 2022. A year later, Michael is still crafting perfectly balanced vegan flavours and textures that have placed the business at the forefront of the local vegan movement.
